In an attempt to give support to ASIFA 's work yours Duck Dodgers and mmm...donuts made some posts about Steve Worth's work !
Watch the recent post made by mmm...donuts which shows the differences between the old print of " Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs " to which we are accustomed and the gorgeous print donated by John K to ASIFA ! You can find the link to the Blog right under my signature ! ( Support ASIFA ! ) Last edited by Duck Dodgers; 11-10-2005 at 04:59 PM. |

I saw it and it looks great! Hopefully Warner Home Video will release it on an upcoming Golden Collection set.
But what I really need is a crystal-clear print of UNCLE TOM'S BUNGALOW.

Perhaps the Volume 3 Golden collection is just a tune up and/or "weather balloon" to test how those PC winds are blowing......
A great "From the Vault" four pack would be "Clean Pastures" "September In the Rain" "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs" "Tin Pan Alley Cats" All are excellent jivin' music cartoons! |

When you think about it, COAL BLACK really isn't that racist. It's just an African American parody of Disney's SNOW WHITE, which pays homage to African American music. The only thing racist in the cartoon are Prince Chawmin's dice front teeth, which references the stereotype of black people shooting craps. The same thing goes for CLEAN PASTURES. That cartoon also pays homage to African American music and its composers such as Cab Calloway and Fats Waller. People would have thought nothing of that cartoon if they were caricatures of white celebrities. ALL THIS AND RABBIT STEW can be another example. The dopey hunter is just a black version of Elmer Fudd. People see this as being offensive, yet they find nothing about Elmer offensive to white people. Like COAL BLACK, the only racist part of the cartoon is the reference to crap shooting.
