Does anyone know the secret the nephews are to learn from the High Lama, which Don Rosa alludes to in this month's issue of Uncle Scrooge (Return to Xanadu)? I figure something to do with extremely long life (as in James Hilton's Lost Horizon), like maybe the High Lama is Kubla Khan, but I don't know what this would have to do with the nephews. Any ideas?

I'm almost positive thats what the High Lama might have been alluding to on that cut page. In other news, I liked the restoration job on Return to Xanadu. I'm not complaining mind you, but for anyone actually in the know, why was the story relettered from scratch? |

[QUOTE=Dub]Am I the only other person who thinks that the plot point that was left out of Return to Xanadu (shown by that missing page) may have had to do with the one elusive plot point that Don Rosa has never been able to successfully get his hands on: that being what the final fates of Huey, Dewey, and Louie's parents are?
I'm almost positive thats what the High Lama might have been alluding to on that cut page. QUOTE] I thought of that too, actually, but what I couldn't figure out is what on earth the High Lama would have to do with it. I suppose because he knows everything that goes on in the valley. Hmm. Obviously these stories have an element of fantasy to them, but HD&L having a tie to Xanadu? A third tie to Tralla La? Knowing Rosa's affinity for cinema, I've gotta think it's tied to Lost Horizon somehow, but I really have no idea. I hope we get to see the story too, though! |
